In response to inquiries regarding CMC activities with respect to the European Union Regulation on the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization, and restriction of Chemicals, or REACH, CMC is aware of the regulation and has instituted processes and resources to deal with the requirements. Although CMC is a manufacturer, our standing under the regulation does not require registration under REACH. CMC is a contract manufacturer purchasing and assembling products per a customer supplier Bill of Materials. As products are specified, CMC will purchase per the customer supplied Bill of Material. It is up to each customer to specify such products to be purchased and to ensure the eligibility to the REACH requirement. When required, CMC will source and offer for approval alternative solutions in order to maintain compliance.
The RoHS Directive stands for the Restriction of the use of certain Hazardous Substances in electrical and electronic equipment. This Directive bans the placing on the EU market of new electrical and electronic equipment containing more than agreed levels of various substances including lead, cadmium, mercury and others. It is up to the individual Manufacturers to understand the requirements of the RoHS Directive to ensure that their products, and their components, comply. The RoHS Directive and the UK RoHS regulations came into force on July 1, 2006 and is considered an Article 95 single market directive. At CMC we have been proudly providing our customers RoHS complaint products since 2005.
